Black Spruce Coffee is owned and operated by Ricky Mawunganidze.

I have two core memories that stand out in my coffee journey, the first was when as a kid I was given good coffee at a friends house, it was so strong that no amount of sugar could save it! The second memory is sitting with my dad in the garden in Maputo, sipping cup after cup of espresso and talking about the future; that coffee tasted amazing.

In my formative years, I worked in the hospitality industry, and as a barista at Sailors Rest Tavern in Geelong, developed a passion for coffee. I love so many things about coffee drinking culture and am intrigued by its ritualistic nature and the fascinating ways people engage with coffee. My hope is to share in your coffee journey by sourcing carefully selected world-class Arabica beans hand-roasted right here in the heart of the Klondike; Dawson City.

Through coffee, we celebrate our inclusive Dawson community whilst being guided by fair-market values that ensure all our partnerships are ethical and have a lasting impact on coffee-producing communities that produce our coffee beans.

The Black Spruce is an iconic and hardy tree in Boreal forests, commonly found on north-facing slopes throughout the Yukon. Like the Black Spruce, every batch tells a storied history.
